When Chad stood back and looked at the Salty Dog exhibit and the longevity of all the surfers in the portrait series, he thought to himself, “How cool would it be if all these people had a portrait from when they first started surfing?” And the Salty Pup was born. All the pup portraits are in black and white, because they have to earn their color Salty Dog portrait.
